From riding green waves to understanding them: a weekend to build confidence, wave awareness & independent decision‑making
The Intermediate Surf Weekend is designed for surfers who are confidently getting out the back and catching green waves, but want to develop their skills, awareness and confidence to progress to the next level.
Across two immersive days, you’ll focus on building wave awareness, improving decision‑making and strengthening the fundamentals that help surfers become more independent in the line‑up. This weekend blends practical water coaching with supportive land‑based learning to help you read waves earlier, position yourself more effectively and turn with greater control.
It’s a progression‑focused, confidence‑building experience designed to move you from riding green waves to understanding them.
10th & 11th October 2026
Price: £285 per person
What You’ll Work On
Reading Green Waves: Understanding how waves approach, develop and break — and recognising the best waves to catch.
Wave Selection: Learning which waves to choose, when to paddle and how to position yourself with purpose.
S‑Turns & Cutbacks: Developing turning skills, using the open face of the wave to generate speed, flow and direction.
Line‑Up Position & Direction: Knowing where to sit, how to adjust, and choosing the correct direction once you’ve caught a wave.
Building Confidence: Feeling more comfortable in the line‑up and developing the confidence to make independent decisions.
Better Decision‑Making: Bringing everything together — reading, timing, positioning and direction — to make smarter choices before, during and after each wave.

The Aim
To move surfers from riding green waves to understanding green waves — building the awareness and confidence that underpin long‑term progression.
Weekend Overview
Across two focused days, the Intermediate Surf Weekend blends structured water coaching with supportive land‑based learning to help you build confidence, improve wave awareness and refine your technique. Each session has a clear purpose, guiding you through the fundamentals that help intermediate surfers progress with consistency and independence.
Saturday
Saturday begins with a welcome briefing, where your coaches introduce the weekend and outline the progression goals you’ll be working towards. The morning surf session focuses on reading and catching green waves — developing your understanding of how waves approach, break and offer the best opportunities to ride.
After a break for lunch, the afternoon session moves into turning and direction, helping you refine S‑turns, cutbacks and controlled line‑building on the open face. The day ends with a relaxing yoga or spa session designed to support recovery, mobility and confidence ahead of Day Two.
Sunday
Sunday starts with a short debrief to review Day One and prepare for your final surf session. The morning water session brings everything together — wave reading, selection, positioning, timing, turning and decision‑making — helping you apply your skills with greater consistency and independence.
After the session, you’ll take part in a board talk, exploring how equipment choice supports progression and how to select the right board for your level and goals. The weekend concludes with a relaxed lunch in Fore Street Café and a gentle wrap‑up with your coaches.
