We are proud of our coaches, all of which as well as being BSA qualified, are all excellent surfers with years of experience in the ocean. We believe this is invaluable when it comes to giving you the knowledge and confidence to take to the water!

All our coaches are BSA Qualified Level 1, 2, 3 & 4 , qualified RLSS beach lifeguards and CRB checked, offering professional coaching in a safe environment.

Elite Coach - Mike Young

Originally from South Africa, our elite coach Mike is one of the most experienced surfers and coaches in Newquay. As well as surfing for fun, he has made a living out of surfing professionally all over the world and has competed in many WQS events over the years.

After surfing around the world and in Europe, Mike moved to the UK in 2001 and became Head Coach of the Escape Surf School. We are one of the only schools in the area to boast a professional surfer as an active head coach. As recognition of Mikes coaching experience, he was recently awarded the postion of Head Coach for the British Junior Surf Team

Head coach Wills passion in life is Surfing. From surf exploration to coaching, he seeks to not only find the perfect waves, but to also share the passion and excitement of surfing, with the people he coaches. Each year, Will spends up to 2 months overseas in search of the perfect waves. Costa Rica is his favourite Surf location mainly due to the consistent powerful waves, but has surfed in the following countries:

UK, France, Spain Portugal, Morocco, Panama, Bali, Australia, Ireland, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica.

Will qualified as a level 1 coach in 2003 and immediately started the Escape Surf School.  He is now qualified to a BSA level 3 standard . As well as teaching in the UK, Will has also taught in Australia
