At the Escape Surf School our aim is to give everyone an insight into the surfing lifestyle. You will experience a professional lesson run by one of our BSA qualified coaches. For most of our students the first lesson is a life changing experience and it is just the beginning, so we offer lessons at all levels, from complete beginners and intermediate, through to advanced and contest surfers through our elite surfing academy.
As well as offering Surfing lessons, we also offer a variety of packages which include surfing and accommodation from hostel based to luxury hotel!
At the Escape Surf School we are proud to specialise, not generalise. We teach surfing and surfing only, not kiteboarding, body boarding and so on!! This means we can concentrate on teaching surfing to the best level possible and guarenteeing you will find the whole experience a life changing event! Our coaches are specialist Surf Coaches and qualified to the highest level
All ages and abilities are welcome (although we ask that all children are at least 8 years old) and courses run all year, subject to availability. We provide surf lessons for individuals, families and small and large group (stags and hen parties are very welcome)
We are one of the only surf schools in Newquay to boast a professional surfer as Head Coach; Mike Young has been surfing for 25 years with 15 years professional experience on the World Tour. Mike is currently ranked 9th in the UK on the UK Pro Surf Tour and is Head coach for the British Junior Surf Team.
We are proud of our instructors, all of which as well as being BSA qualified, are all excellent surfers with years of experience in the ocean. We believe this is invaluable when it comes to giving you the knowledge and confidence to take to the water!
The Escape Surf School is based at Belushis, Newquays premier surf bar and hostel. We have sensational views at our base over Newquays finest surfing beaches. After the surf relax in our hot tub overlooking the surf or refresh yourself with a cold beverage and relax on the veranda.
We will ensure you get the best possible waves - . Because we are based between 2 beaches, we have the choice to use either. This is invaluable when the swell is small, as we use the more exposed Fistral, or when the swell is huge, and Fistral is dangerous and closed, we use the much more sheltered Towan Beach. You are therefore guaranteed to have the best possible lesson, whatever the conditions. Look at the Beaches page for more info on the surfing beaches we use
